Default Cell Phones

My mom is asking me to research cell phones for her, since she can upgrade.

I've got an HTC One that I think is great. I guess there's a new version out now of that (not sure what the new model changed) as I'm seeing commercials for it (impact I think).

Any suggestions of other phones to look at that are out, just came out, or about to come out (worth waiting for).

I have the Droid Razr Maxx, which I think they now just call the Droid Maxx. It's a good size and the battery lasts forever.

Hmmm, looking at the Moto X.

It's not a powerhouse, which she wouldn't need, but the battery life looks awesome and it's got some cool features. Plus it'd be free and she can customize the colors/appearance which I know she'd like. Read some reviews, everyone seems to like it.

Ya, someone who has the Nexus 4 said he loved it and the 5 just came out, but I guess it's not coming out for Verizon. =(

This is a good point. The problem I had with android was that carrier support for newer versions of Android was basically non-existent. Google can put out world-class software and Verizon can not bother to update if it chooses to.
